The Planning for Canada pre-arrival program provides newcomers with the right information, tools, and Canadian contacts to equip them to find work reflecting their skills and education, as well as to make informed settlement decisions. Delivered in both French and English, in-person and online depending on country of origin, we offer a full-day group orientation session on preparing for life in Canada, a personalized one-hour planning session on career and settlement goals, and extensive connections to Canadian organizations for additional settlement guidance. A joint initiative of Colleges and Institutes Canada (Canadian Immigrant Integration Program) and the International Organization for Migration (Canadian Orientation Abroad), we have over twenty-five years of collective experience delivering in-person and facilitated online information sessions around the world to over 130,000 newcomers. As a result, newcomers who attend our sessions are better equipped to find work that reflects their skills and education as well as make informed settlement decisions.

Settlement Online Pre-Arrival (SOPA) is a network of Canadian agencies delivering free pre-arrival supports designed to help newcomers find and retain employment in Canada. An intake counsellor will meet with you online to provide settlement help and referrals, and develop a personalized family settlement plan. Through facilitated and self-guided online courses you will:
- Develop job search skills, create targeted resume and cover letter, and prepare for job interviews
- Understand Canadian workplace culture, practice workplace communication skills
