Recent Recruitment Mission Update

MPNP Employer Services, in partnership with Economic Development Winnipeg, travelled to Buenos Aires, Argentina between October 18 to 21 to assist Manitoba employers in their recruitment efforts of highly-skilled tech workers. Participating employers were offering over 100 IT positions spanning various industries, including agriculture, manufacturing and e-commerce. The recruitment mission was a tremendous success! Employers were able to find the IT workers they needed and plans are underway to return to Buenos Aires for another recruitment mission in the Spring of 2020. More information to follow.

Updated Guidelines for Employers and Long Haul Truck Drivers

The MPNP is committed to ensuring that Manitoba’s Trucking Industry is able to recruit qualified international truck drivers*, legally and ethically, when drivers cannot be recruited locally.

* ‘international’ in this context refers to any individual who is not currently a permanent resident or citizen of Canada, regardless of their country of residence.

All employers should apply to the federal Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) process to recruit international truck drivers as Temporary Foreign Workers if they have not been successful in recruiting drivers from within Canada.

The MPNP may consider requests from Manitoba trucking companies to recruit a specific number of qualified truck drivers directly through the Program providing that these companies are able to demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the MPNP, that they are able to meet all of the requirements indicated in the Guidelines for Employers and Guidelines for Truck Drivers.
